Phuket
Between the two of us, we have been to Phuket 7 and 5 times respectively, which gave us plenty of time to explore. We usually like staying in the more northern part of the island and spend a lot of time at the beach (especially Bang Tao). Phuket Town is also always worth a visit, we recommend strolling around a bit to see the cute houses, stopping at a market if you see one and trying out one of the cute restaurants or cafés. In case you happen to be there on the weekend, stay around until the evening and check out the Naka weekend market. Aand if you are in the mood for truly crazy partying, Patong is something you should see at least once.
Pro tip: While April is usually not the best time to go since it is close to the start of the rainy season, it is when Songkran happens, which is incredibly fun. A new years’ celebration rooted in Buddhist customs of purification, today it’s usually celebrated with massive, joyful water fights all over the country. so if you do go in April, make sure not to miss it.
Pro pro tip: If you walk around with anything resembling a water gun during Songkran, it essentially symbolizes that you’re part of the water fight and fair game. If, on the other hand, you make no resemblance of participating, people also won’t target you.
