Sightseeing tour around Chiang Rai
We usually prefer slower, more selective sightseeing, but here we did a full 180 and packed everything into one very full day, and it was absolutely worth it. The tour we did was something like this https://www.getyourguide.com/chiang-rai-l913/chiang-rai-7-major-sites-golden-triangle-tea-plantation-t810479/?ranking_uuid=085488c6-c212-4c7d-a0eb-981d8eebfcdd. It included hotel pick up and transportation to all our destinations – White Temple, Blue Temple, Black House, Golden Triangle, the northernmost point of Thailand, Karen Hilltribe Village, Chui Fong Tea Plantation, and the Opium Museum – all guided by a local. The thing is, while all of these places are absolutely worth seeing, they are (unsurprisingly) also very touristy and can get extremely crowded (especially the White Temple). That’s why it ended up being a really good idea to do everything in one go; there are many things to see, but we found that around one hour per stop was actually enough.
