“Trottinettle”
Trottinettle is the Swiss word for riding a scooter (the old school where the only motor is your foot). And this is something that many mountain places offer as a more fun alternative to get down the mountain. One we have tried recently is the one on the mountain Hoher Kasten, starting from the Gasthaus Ruhesitz. You can either hike up (will take around 1h 10 min) or take the cable car up to Hoher Kasten, from where you can hike down (around 50 min). While it’s a bit more tedious, we’d recommend the latter because in addition to the fun way down you’ll also get to enjoy some stunning views. Once you arrive at Ruhesitz, simply go into the restaurant and tell them you’d like to rent a scooter (or “i wür gern e Trottinett miete” in Swiss German), then just follow the street all the way down and most importantly: enjooooooy!!
Pro tip: Combine with a breakfast or lunch at the Panoramarestaurant.
