Langkawi

We got Langkawi recommended by a friend, who described it as a cheaper, less touristy version of Phuket. While the two are not exactly identical, the comparison is not too far off. If you are looking for beautiful white sand beaches and nature to explore but are on more of a budget (or just want to see something new), we can definitely recommend Langkawi. One thing to be aware of: at least in the areas we stayed, Langkawi felt a bit less developed when it comes to infrastructure compared to places like Phuket. For example, at the beach, beach clubs and sunbeds are much less common. That said, there are convenient direct flights if you are coming from Singapore, and getting around the island is super easy with Grab (and we rarely paid more than SGD 2 per ride).
